'Hidden Lessons' explores the themes of judgement and persistence, especially for people who have been to prison. The majority of inmates will struggle once released due to society's reluctance to fully accept their attempts of positive reintegration.

I’ve seen this with friends and family members who have been incarcerated. People who are doing everything they can to be upstanding members of society, but are still judged for their past mistakes.

This story explores these themes by following a young Aboriginal inmate, Marcus, as he pursues his dream of becoming a lingerie designer while living in an environment in which such aspirations could be dangerous for him. He has to find creative ways to learn about lingerie design, but also how to stick to his goals, even when others make it difficult. 'Hidden Lessons' is important to society as a whole. It will make audiences think about the idea of rehabilitation and the wider community's unconscious efforts to undermine it.
